Since 1995, Thai Basil has been a fixture in downtown Sunnyvale. We are a full-service, authentic Thai restaurant serving southern-style Thai cuisine. People travel from all over the Bay Area to savor our spicy curries and sumptuously flavored Thai specialties. Come see why we earned the title of “Best Thai Restaurant in the Silicon Valley” from the San Jose Mercury News.
Owner Jua Rattanaphum ventured into the restaurant business with his wife Taneerat after a career as a journalist and newspaper editor. He converted a small hamburger joint into the elegant space that is now Thai Basil. He began by wearing every hat, acting as the host, server and chef at the tiny, nine-table restaurant.
Since then, we’ve added a larger dining space, a comfortable patio and a loyal following. We take pride in our homemade, authentic cuisine, which we make following traditional recipes. We make our own curry paste to get the freshest flavors of lemongrass, garlic, turmeric and galangal in every bite. Stop by today to enjoy our sunny, bright dining room, full service bar, personal service and delicious food.
Start your Thai Basil experience with a refreshing Thai iced tea or a cold Singha beer, or ask our friendly bartender to mix you an authentic Thai cocktail. For a starter, try the coconut seafood soup, warm and fragrant with cilantro and spices. Our salmon Penang curry and seafood noodle dishes are customer favorites. And if you like super spicy food, be sure to order the red curry chicken, extra hot. Don’t worry, we’ll give you extra jasmine rice to cool things down. We also offer a wide range of healthful vegetarian dishes, like tofu pad thai and green curry with vegetables. For dessert, try the mango with sweet rice, a house specialty.
Anything you choose at Thai Basil will be sure to please. We’re located on S. Murphy Avenue in the heart of Sunnyvale. Stop in today. We’re open seven days a week for dinner and Monday through Friday to serve the lunchtime crowd. With generous portions, reasonable prices and free home delivery, our goal at Thai Basil is to turn visitors into regulars.
